Daily blog - some days are like that
Imagining I'd have a lovely new lighting model perfected after yesterday, that hasn't happened. Firstly, my car refuses to die a quiet death. It's taken £300, 4 mechanics, and 2 automobile electricians to come the conclusion that it's no good - present theory being a spike in the ignition coil fried the car's computer. So that's taking up time. Secondly, things don't always work the way you expect. In fact, they tend to not work the way you expect! That's one of the reasons why game development overruns so much. In this case, my camera flares were randomly showing behind rocks. The system I used with Unity's 2D triggers should have worked on paper, but it took a rewrite to use ray casts to get a stable solution.
I did get it running on devices, which is good. It is slow, which is bad. But it is fast enough on high end devices, which is good, plus it's there in all its glory on PC. I'll try reworking it to find a faster solution after the public alpha is out.
